Hi! Tide Notes is a fun and vibrant a cappella group started in 2019 and is based in San Carlos, CA. We welcome treble voices of all genders, ages 12–18, who want to sing for the joy of it. Our repertoire is wide and exciting, ranging from classical to pop, Taylor Swift to Macedonian folk music, and more!
People join Tide Notes not just for the music, but also for the experience. It’s a relaxed, supportive environment where singers help shape the music we perform. It’s a chance to make friends, enjoy social time, and share in the fun. There are snacks… and even a therapy dog, Sirius! We focus on making music together because we love it, not because of pressure or competition.
Led by Emily Bender, a member of the nationally award-winning vocal ensemble Solstice, Tide Notes offers both musical excellence and a warm, welcoming space where voices and friendships can grow.
We welcome new singers with treble voices who identify as female or alternatively gendered. If you would like to learrn more or are interested in joining us, please reach out to emily@emilybender.com, and we can see if it would be a good fit. No audition required. Some singing experience recommended. Join anytime, especially in

Singers in the Sound Waves focus on the fun and satisfying art of a cappella harmony singing. They will learn to follow musical scores, hold their own part, listen to their fellow singers, and sing with confidence. One of the few a cappella choirs for this age group in the Bay Area and beyond, this class is great preparation for singing in middle and high school choirs, a cappella groups, and musical theater productions. The last class will be a mini-recital for friends and family. Singers are encouraged to stay with the class for the entire school year, as additional performances will occur in Spring 2025. $30 material fee payable to instructor at first class.
NOTE: The fall session of The Sound Waves has been cancelled.
